Postscript
The title of the seminar was “Legends of California Pinot Noir,” but I think a more appropriate title would have
been “Pioneers of California Pinot Noir.” After all, a legend is often referred to as an immortal and fortunately
these icons are all still very much alive. Pioneers are ground breakers, trailblazers and innovators and these
tags seem to be most appropriate. Regardless of how you refer to these four, they are all remarkable people
who have made and continue to make extraordinary wines. This seminar was a once-in-a-lifetime experience
for me that I will always treasure.
