2005 Merry Edwards Coopersmith Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 14.3% alc., $54. The Coopersmith Merry Edwards Estate Vineyard is located in the Laguna Ridge area west of Sebastopol. Planted to both California heritage and 828 clones. · The nose is dominated by aromas of oak, hay, sage and cola. The dark fruit is a bit shallow and linear. A touch of oak smoke rounds out the flavor profile. Silky textured with adequate acidity and a short finish. The young vines are not yet showing a lot of pizzazz or personality.
