2012 Littorai The Pivot Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

13.6% alc., $70. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. The nose evolves nicely over time in the glass, offering scents of red cherry hard candy, black cherry coulis, dark chocolate, mulch and spice. Not particularly showy on the palate initially with a modest attack of mid weight, nicely ripened black cherry fruit. The wine picks up interest over time in the glass, building in intensity and complexity. The harmony is particularly appealing and the cherry-driven finish is quite refreshing due to its palate-cleansing acidity. Like so many Littorai wines, this one requires more time in the cellar for full expression. Score: 92. Reviewed July 19, 2014
