2012 Shane La Reine Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

14.1% alc., $42. Petaluma gap fruit including clones 115, 777, “828,” and Swan. · Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. Somewhat brooding, revealing itself slowly in the glass. Dense and sappy dark berry fruits flood the nose and palate. Some earthy mushroom and peppery spice add interest. Almost like Syrah in fruit liquor richness, with firm, grippy tannins. Lacks finishing length. Needs more time in bottle to reach full expression. Score: 88. Reviewed July 19, 2014
