2013 Siduri Bucher Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

14.1% alc., 388 cases, $49. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Well-endowed with generous aromas of ripe Bing cherries, cola and loamy earth. Discreetly concentrated, cherry-driven flavor on the palate with an undertone of savory spices, smoky oak, and what the French call merde, a fecal or decaying vegetative note that some drinkers (not me) prize. I have experienced this in only one other California wine - the Russian River Valley Hansen Vineyard Pinot Noir produced by Brogan Cellars and George Wine Company. Score: 89.
