2013 Byron Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir

13.5% alc., pH 3.56, TA 0.56, 50,000 cases, $19, screwcap. Aged 8 months in 3% new French oak barrels. · Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass. Fragrant with aromas of cherry, rose and oak. A solid, easy drinking wine, with juicy mid weight black cherry flavor and a pretty good tug of oak. There is an earthy undertone and a hint of iron-driven minerality adding interest. The tannins are supple and the velvety mouthfeel is appealing. Amazing quality given the very large production. Score: 88. Reviewed December 10, 2014
