14.2% alc., pH 3.57, TA 0.60, 720 cases, $60. Made from estate organic grapes, clones 777, 667, 115, 114 and Pommard 4. Vineyard is in northern end of Santa Lucia Mountains and has been certified organic since 2002 making it the first vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands to achieve both organic and sustainable certifications. 100% de-stemmed, native yeast fermentation initially, aged 10 months in French oak barrels, 36% new. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Stubborn primary nose reluctantly offering aromas of earthy black fruits. Expansive blackberry and boysenberry flavors that offer commendable intensity and length on the finish. Polished, with balanced tannins, and a thrust of black cherry on the finish. Score: 92. Reviewed June 18, 2016
