2005 Domaine Fougeray de Beauclair Bonnes Mares
In 1972,
Jean-Louis Fougeray created Domaine Jean-Louis Fougeray. Over
the years, the domaine grew to 25 acres with vineyards stretching
from Marsannay to Savigny-les-Beaune. In 1986, Jean-Louis partnered
with Bernard Clair to form Domaine Fougeray de Beauclair.
This estate now owns 54 acres of vines, and bottles the only Bonnes
Mares originating from the Morey-St.-Denis side of this Grand Cru
vineyard. Current annual production is 10,000 cases. Patrice Oliver
has been the winemaker since 1999. This is a superstar domaine that
manages to keep its prices within reason (see also pages 10 and 13).

The Bonnes Mares from this domaine
is always unusually approachable early in its evolution. This wine has the whole package from start
to finish and is magnificent. Power with elegance.

1991 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue Bonnes-Mares
13.5% alc.. This Domaine can trace its
roots back 550 years and today the 20th generation of the family is in charge. About 420 cases of
Bonnes-Mares are produced each year from the Domaine’s holdings which are in the Chambolle
portion of the vineyard. The vines average 29 years in age. Several critics have written that the Vogue
wines of the 1990s are excellent and in great vintages are truly magnificent examples of fine Burgundy.

A lovely nose of ripe cherries with floral accents. Shy flavors of sweet red cherries, spice and a
hint of citrus. Appears to be fading. A good wine, but disappointing considering the pedigree.
