Cronin Vineyards
A tiny winery that overlooks the San Francisco Bay and Portola Valley that produces small quantities of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The winery is also the home of Duane Cronin and his wife Nancy. Duane began making wine in 1976 for personal consumption and by 1982 began selling some of it. He had no formal training in winemaking but picked it up through study and talking with winemakers he admired. He worked for IBM as a computer programmer while also running the winery until eventual retirement allowed him to devote all of his time to his vineyards and winemaking. Cronin has three acres of vines on his property. Most of the grapes that make up the 2,000 cases that Cronin produces annually are secured from other vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains and elsewhere. Visits and tasting are available by appointment. Open houses are held periodically. 415-851-1452. |
