Relic Wines
Relic Wines is the shared dream of husband and wife Mike Hirby and Schatzi Throckmorton. Hirby career in wine began as a sommelier. He later was the assistant winemaker at Behrens & Hitchcock Winery and left in 2002 to make wine for Relic and several other Napa Valley wineries. The winery's Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is sourced from the 1-acre Avion Vineyard which is situated above the famous Durell Vineyard west of the town of Sonoma. An Alder Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir as been produced since 2002. In 2007, a Pinot Noir bottling, Tradition, from Alder Springs Vineyard is an homage to Burgundy. It is a single barrel of Pinot Noir fermented with 50% whole clusters. A Syrah and white and red Rhone blend round out the portfolio. The wines are sold exclusively through a mailing list. |
