Small lots of wine made by artisan winemakers are sought out and blend to produce limited-production wines. Kent Humphrey and Dan Fishman (the winemaker and assistant winemaker for Eric Kent Wine Cellars) discover and acquire small lots for Sarapo Family and create the finished blends.

The name, Sarapo Family Wines, honors Kent's Italian heritage. Sarapo is his mother's maiden name and legend has it that various members of the family were involved in wine long before Kent was born. Each wine is given a "family name" inspired by relatives from generations past and present.

A 2009 Donato Carneros Pinot Noir is offered through select retail stores, wine bars and restaurants throughout the United States.

2009 Sarapo Family Wines Donato Carneros Pinot Noir

14.1% alc., $19.95. Second label from Eric KentWine Cellars. · Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass. Nicely perfumed with aromas of black cherries, spice box, oak and baked cookies. Medium weight core of tasty dark cherry and blackberry fruit with a hint of mocha in the background. The velvety texture is appealing, but the alcoholic finish detracts. Good acidity and mild tannins. A reasonably good daily drinker in an attractive package. Good (-). Reviewed May 15, 2011 ARTICLE »
