Long-time friends Eric Buffington and Ryan Padgett launched their label with the 2007 harvest, using fruit from a small Zinfandel vineyard, Buck Hill, in Sonoma County. They now produce small lots of Amelle wines at Freeman Winery, where Eric is the associate winemaker. In 2008, a Pinot Noir from Keefer Ranch was offered.
The label is named after their wives, Amanda and Michelle.
