Owner Larry Stanton practiced medicine for 40 years, primarily in dermatology. He moved to the Paso Robles area in 1977 and began farming that year while maintaining a medical practice. Cerro Prieto Vineyard was planted in 1999, and he and his spouse Teresa live adjacent the vineyard.
The wines have been highly rated and won medals in major wine competitions. A Pinot Noir is offered in addition to several warm-climate varietals.
