A high-quality domaine whose wines command significant respect and price in the marketplace. The vines are farmed using biodynamie since 2004. According to Clive Coates (The Wines of Burgundy), "the wines now have an old-vine, minimum-yield concentration and are abundantly fruity and very stylish and well-balanced." Bernard Dugat is Claude Dugat's ((Domaine Claude Dugat) brother. Bernard's wife, Jocelyne (ex-Py) assists him in the vineyard and cellar. The domaine owns about 25 acres. I have always found the bourgogne level wines to be among the most expensive, but also among the best at this level.

2000 Dugat-Py Bourgogne

12.5% alc., $30. Imported by Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA. · Very funky aromatics with plenty of barnyard. Nicely weighted with perfect acid/tannin balance. Red and black berry flavors are lip-smacking. Still has notable tannins on the finish. Website: www.dugat-py.com Reviewed October 14, 2007 ARTICLE »
