Beran Vineyards
This winery owned by Bill and Sharon Beran is dedicated exclusively to premium estate Pinot Noir. The vineyard was planted in 1972 and 1979 and lies in the Chehalem Mountains. The winery is situated in a converted dairy barn just 20 miles southwest of downtown Portland, on a site that was homesteaded in 1875. Through the early years, grapes were sold to a nearby winery. It wasn't until 1997 that Beran Vineyards Pinot Noir was launched. Bill is the winemaker with Sharon contributing her palate as well. Production is about 1,000 cases per year. The winery is open Memorial Day and Thanksgiving weekend and other times by appointment (503-628-1298). The wines are sold through a mailing list. |
