2009 Gary Farrell Hallberg Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

14.1% alc. pH 3.37, TA 0.60, 626 cases, $55. Released September 1, 2011. This 100- acre vineyard is named for previous owners Don and Marcia Hallberg. Today it is farmed by partner and Sonoma-Cutrer alumnus Kirk Lokka. · Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Pleasant aromas of dark red and black fruits, spice, and wine cask, developing complexity over time in the glass. Tasty core of earth-kissed black plum and blackberry flavors with the fruit pulled into line with structured tannins and zippy citric acidity. A complimentary hint of oak brings up the rear. Drank nicely the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. Very good. Reviewed July 23, 2012
