2012 Loring Wine Company Russell Family Vineyard Paso Robles Pinot Noir

14.9% alc., $50, screwcap. · Very dark purple color in the glass. Aromas of black raspberry, black currant, tar, cigar box and clay loam. Full-bodied with a load of very ripe, dark berry fruit. Big, big, big, almost syrupy with a velvety presence and a charge of oak on the finish. A brute of a Pinot Noir that lacks appeal. Score: 85. Reviewed December 18, 2013
