2014 Westrey Abbey Ridge Vineyard Dundee Hills Oregon Pinot Noir

13.5% alc., 251 cases, $45. 18 days on the skins, racked directly to barrel, aged 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% new. · Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. Brooding aromas of darker raspberry fruit, smoke and tobacco lead off. Fairly bold and concentrated, with flavors of oak-kissed black cherry and a subtle petrol note. Nicely balanced with a sweet cherry and exotically spiced finish. This wine needs more time to integrate the oak, but the potential is obvious. Score: 90. Reviewed July 9, 2016
