2013 Schermeister Rodgers Creek Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

14.5% alc., 150 cases, $49. Pommard and Dijon 777 clones. Native fermentation, extended maceration with 35 days on skins, aged 11 months in French oak barrels, 50% new and 50% once used. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Piquant oak infuses the nose and palate in this mid weight wine featuring flavors of black cherry, pomegranate and blackberry. Forward drinking, with a sexy texture and good follow through on the finish. The fruit definitely pushes the ripeness envelope and the oak overlay pushes for dominance. Score: 88.
