Ahlgren Vineyard
Founded in 1976, Ahlgren Vineyard is located in the cellar beneath the mountain home of Dexter and Valerie Ahlgreen. Situated seven miles north of Boulder Creek on Highway 9, traditional, hands-on methods are used to produce Semillon, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Grapes are sourced from the Santa Cruz Mountains, Livermore Valley and Monterey County. Daughter Beth Ahlgreen assumed the winemaking duties in briefly 2000 after Dexter suffered a stroke, but his recovery has allowed him to continue as the winemaker. A Pinot Noir is produced from the Veranda Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains. |
