Tamayo Family Vineyards
Located in Contra Costa, a little more than an hour east of downtown San Francisco, Tamayo Family Vineyards was founded by Jeff and Sara Tamayo. The lineup of wines includes three labels: Tamayo, Cana (from the original vineyard that was replanted between 2003 and 2006), and Tamayo Family Signature series. The Tamayo Pinot Noir carries a Santa Lucia Highlands appellation designation. The winemaker is Jon Engelskirger, a veteran of time at many wineries including Silverado Vineyards, Robert Pepi Winery and Turnbull Wine Cellars. An appointment is necessary to visit the winery (925-513-8463). Tasting is available at Contra Costa County Wine Company, a cooperative tasting room in downtown Brentwood. |
