Nautilus
A relatively large producer of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, sparkling wine and Pinot Noir from estate and partner grower vineyards in Marlborough. Over 60 acres of Pinot Noir are planted throughout the Marlborough region containing a variety of clones including AM 10/5, Pommard 5 and 6, and Dijon 114, 115, 667 and 777. The Pinot Noir is made in a winery cellar solely dedicated to Pinot Noir. A new white winery sits adjacent. Clive Jones has been the winemaker and winery manager since 1998 and is responsible for the excellence of the Nautilus Pinot Noir program. The wines are exported to over 30 countries including the United States. Articles About NautilusReviewed Wines![]() 2008 Nautilus Marlborough New Zealand Pinot Noir 14.0% alc., $26, screw cap. Imported by Negociants USA Inc, Napa, CA. 7 day cold soak, aged in French oak barrels. 5 clones from 6 vineyards. · Lovely aromas of dark red cherries, strawberries, raspberries with a complimentary spice note. Highly perfumed right out of the bottle. The flavors echo the aromas with added accents of sassafras and savory herbs. Moderately rich with impressive persistence on the finish which sports some restrained dry tannins. Charming and easy to drink. Still fine the next day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. Very good (+). Reviewed November 7, 2010 ARTICLE »
