Melrose Vineyards
Wayne and Deedy Parker founded Melrose Vineyards in 1996 in the Umpqua Valley town of Roseburg. The site is located on the bench of the South Umpqua River where the Archembeau family settled and became owners by virtue of a land grant. Wayne Parker had been a grape grower in Fresno, California for over twenty years before he arrived at Melrose in 1996. The original vineyard of 82 acres was planted the same year. During the first winter, there was flooding which had a devastating effect on the property and it took several years to clean up the debris. The first Melrose Vineyards wines were produced in 2000. A barn on the property was converted into a tasting room, retaining many of the original features of the structure. The winemaker is Cody Parker who crafts a large selection of white and red wines including Pinot Noir from the Umpqua Valley. The wines are offered through the winery's online store. |
