Stubbs Vineyard
Planted in the hills of west Marin, the Stubbs Vineyard is Marin County’s first organically certified vineyard. The vineyard is often enshrouded with fog and yields are low, usually 1-2 tons per acre. The berries are very small, thickskinned and flavorful. 6 acres are planted to clone 115 of Pinot Noir and 4 acres to clone 763 of Chardonnay. Wind and sun are relied upon for all the energy needs to farm the vineyard. Adjacent to the vineyard are 1000 varieties of Tuscan olive trees from which extra-virgin olive oil is harvested. The winemaker is Dan Goldfield who is intimately involved in all aspects of winegrowing here as well as wine-making. The website is very informative. To order wines, contact Mary Stubbs at 707-773-3288.
