Ketcham Estate
Ketcham Estate is about making seductive Pinot Noir wines with rich fruits, that have structure and balance and are very food friendly. We are about family, friends, food and wine and are committed to putting a significant portion of our profits back into charitable endeavors and our local community. After all, that is what Pinot Noir is all about. We are not about what the famed San Francisco Chronicle columnist Herb Caen used to call the "Prismatic Luminescence School of Wine Tasting", or any type of wine snobbery. Just good wine with food, family and friends. Wine should not be some grand complication and neither is our philosophy. Our commitment to the quality model is uncompromising in all aspects of our wines. We've written the checks to prove it. How do you make a small fortune making Pinot Noir? Answer: Start with a large one. The Pinot Noir is sourced primarily from the estate Ketcham vineyard. The first winemaker was Michael Browne (Kosta Browne). Scott Rich (Talisman) will take over beginning with the 2008 vintage. The wines are sold through a mailing list with some retail distribution. Articles About Ketcham EstateReviewed Wines2006 Ketcham Estate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 14.6% alc., $40. This label, owned by partners Mark Ketcham and Steve Rigisich and vinified by winemaker Michael Browne (Kosta Browne), is relatively new but has been impressive. · Dark reddish-purple robe. Deep aromas of black cherry liquor with dried herbs, hay, and subtle oak char. Nice black cherry fruit core presented with restraint. Light and soft in the mouth, finishing with gossamer tannins. Very good. Reviewed August 4, 2008 ARTICLE »
