Abiouness Wines
Nicole Abiouness has worked in far off wineries including Yalumba in Australia, Chateau La Tour Blanche in Sauternes and Domaine Comte Armand in Burgundy as well as Chappellet Winery and Luna in the Napa Valley of California. She started her own label in 2000 with a small amount of Carneros Pinot Noir while still working as cellar master at Luna Vineyards. The emphasis is on minimal intervention in the winery including hand-sorting, no pumping, hand punchdowns, and natural fermentations. In the 2006 vintage, Pinot Noirs were offered from Stanly Ranch in Carneros, Hudson Vineyard in Carneros and a Pommard clone blend from Carneros. A Sangiovese, unusual for California, is also produced from the Napa Valley. The wines are available on the website. |
