Averaen Wines

A Pinot Noir specialist producing both Willamette Valley AVA Pinot Noir and vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs. The first vintage was 2015.

This label is a sister label of California's Banshee Wines.

The winemaker is Adam Smith who has made wine at Domaine Serene, Shea Wine Cellars and the new project from Meo-Camuzet (Domaine Nicolas-Jay).

The wines can be purchased through the Banshee Wines online store. Some wines are club member only.

2018 Averaen Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

14.0% alc., pH 3.65, TA 0.675, $17.99 (Bottle Barn, Santa Rosa, CA). Produced and bottled by Averaen Wines, Dundee, OR. The Oregon arm of Banshee Wines that originated in Sonoma County. This wine is sourced from multiple vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley. · Moderate garnet color in the glass. Lovely aromas of black cherry, rose petal, peat and earthy flora. Plenty of black cherry driven mid palate intensity with subtle oak backing and gently firm and focused tannins. The satiny texture entices as does the finish that is noticeably persistent. Score: 90. 2016 Averaen Oregon Pinot Noir

13.8% alc., pH 3.69, TA 0.60, $15.99, screw cap. Classy label and bottle. Jory and sedimentary soils. Aged 10 months in French oak barrels. · Moderate garnet color in the glass. Shy aromas of cherry and oak. Light in weight, offering flavors of cherry, cranberry and green tea with a bit of wood in the background. Matched tannins, good vibrancy and finishing cut. Score: 88. 2016 Averaen Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

13.8% alc., pH 3.69, TA 0.60, $19.95. Produced and bottled by Averaen Wines, Dundee, Oregon. Volcanic and marine sedimentary soils. Aged 10 months in oak. · Moderately light garnet color in the glass. Aromas of black cherry, mulch and turned earth build in intensity over time in the glass. Light to mid weight in style, featuring flavors of black cherry and blackberry with some oak in the background. Simple, with a somewhat shallow followthrough that exhibits some tannin.
