2012 Joseph Jewell Sonoma County Pinot Noir

13.95% alc., pH 3.50, TA 0.60, 658 cases, $29. 22% Hallberg Vineyard, 31% Floodgate Vineyard, 45% Appian Way Vineyards. 100% de-stemmed, aged 10 months in 7% new French oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered. · Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. Very aromatic, reminding of Pinot Noir must and scents of cherry, raspberry, chocolate and herbs. Juicy and fresh, with lighter weight flavors of cherries, cranberries, spice and dried herbs. A pleasant wine that has thirst-quenching acidity on the cherry-driven finish. Tends to lose appeal over time in the glass. Score: 87. Reviewed May 15, 2014
