2014 MacPhail Wightman House Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

13.8% alc., 119 cases, $55. Martini clone. Harvest Brix 24.0ยบ. 100% de-stemmed. 5-day cold soak, inoculated primary and native malolactic fermentations, batonnage weekly for 3 months, aged 11 months on the lees in French oak barrels, 61% new. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. · Dark reddish purple color in the glass. The nose is primary, with mainly oak scents. Much more expressive on the palate in a full bodied style replete with luscious flavors of dark red and black berries. A husky, rugged and rustic wine that sports opulent tannins but still has a pervasive charm and can be enjoyed for its individuality. Score: 91. Reviewed August 17, 2016
