2007 Red Car The Aphorist Bartolomei Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 14.6% alc., 300 cases, $54. The 7-acre Bartolomei Vineyard is planted to 3 clones including Jackson 16, 113 and 777. It is a Red Car monopole farmed with Ulises Valdez. · Lovely demure nose composed of berries and cherries with pleasing hints of hay, chalk, mocha and spice. Packed with earth-kissed dark red raspberry cola with a floral underpinning. Flat-out delicious. The tannins are well-managed, and there is a good grip on the lively and persistent finish which leaves a hint of alcohol behind. Very smoothly textured and a wine that demands contemplation.
