2012 Carpe Diem Cellars Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.1% alc., $32. Crafted by Roederer Estate’s winemaker, Arnaud Weyrich. · Medium reddish purple color in the glass. The nose is dominated by toasty, smoky oak with little fruit evident. Better on the palate with a flavorful core of berry and plum fruit with oakdriven notes of tobacco leaf and smoke in the background. Creamy on the palate with balanced tannins and a short finish. Unchanged the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. The heavy oak overlay is too much for my taste. Score: 86. Reviewed December 10, 2014
