2012 Sea Smoke ‘Streamside’ Sea Smoke Estate Vineyard Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay

14.9% alc., pH 3.47, TA 0.598, $60. Release October 2015. Fermented in French oak barrels (55% new), stainless steel (10%) and demi-muids (10-15%), with periodic lees stirring. Aged 16 months before bottling. The stylistic sibling to the ‘Southing’ Pinot Noir. · Light golden yellow color in the glass. Fragrant with scents of fresh peach, lemon, biscuit and nutty oak. Silky on the palate with resourceful flavors of lemon-lime, quince and toasty oak. Very refined with a subtle flinty minerality and some finishing presence. Score: 90. Reviewed April 20, 2015
