2015 Wait Cellars Devoto Garden Vineyard Green Valley of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

13.5% alc., $35. Release summer 2018. Double Gold at 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. The vineyard is a cool and windy site above Sebastopol with vines planted in Goldridge sandy loam. Native fermentation, 10% whole cluster 115 clone and 20% whole cluster “828” clone. Aged 10 months on lees with lees stirring through the winter in French and Hungarian oak barrels, 20% new and 33% once-filled. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. · Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Aromas of muddled cherry, underbrush, toast and dark chocolate. Mid weight flavors of black cherry, blueberry and pomegranate assembled in a classic style with some breadth of finish that includes a modest rush of tannins. When tasted the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle, the tannins had assimilated and the wine had persistent and pleasing fruit pep. Score: 91. 2013 Wait Cellars Devoto Garden Vineyard Green Valley of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

13.0% alc., 350 cases, $33. Release in fall 2015. This site is on a windy ridge west of Sebastopol, renowned for its cool temperatures and fog, and well-drained Goldridge soil. Harvest Brix 22º-23º. Clones “828,” 667 and 115. 25% whole cluster. Wild yeast fermentation. Aged 10 months on primary lees in 20% new French and Hungarian oak barrels, with lees stirring throughout the winter. Unfined and unfiltered. · Moderately light crimson color in the glass. Lovely aromas of strawberry, raspberry, clove and sage. The flavors echo the nose, in an elegant style that is also crisp, with mild tannins and impeccable balance. 2013 Wait Cellars Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

13.5% alc., 75 cases, $36. Release fall 2015. Sourced from the cool Devoto Garden Vineyard west of Sebastopol (clones 667 and 115), and the warmer Skikos Vineyard west of Santa Rosa (clones 77 and Swan). 25% whole cluster, 5-day cold maceration. Native yeast fermentation. Aged 10 months on the lees in French oak barrels, 33% new. · Moderately light crimson color in the glass. Pleasant aromas of cherry and earthy flora. Discreetly concentrated and very juicy, with appealing flavors of black cherry, boysenberry, cola and spice. 2013 Spell Nicole’s Blend Sonoma County Pinot Noir

14.3% alc., 575 cases, $39. Sourced from DeVoto, Terra de Promissio, Umino and Alder Springs vineyards. Aged in 100% French oak barrels, 30% new, 30% once-used, and 40% older. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Very fragrant aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, Asian 5-spice and a hint of peppercorn which build in intensity over time in the glass. Smooth and harmonious in the mouth, with flavors of dark red cherry and berry fruits. Very forward drinking, with minimal dry tannins and good intensity on the finish. 2013 Zepaltas Devoto Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

13.6% alc., 72 cases, $46. Vineyard is located in the Sebastopol Hills. Owner and farmer Stan Devotois is a noted organic apple who planted this vineyard in 2006 on Gold Ridge Road. 50% whole cluster fermentation. Aged 14 months in French oak barrels, 33% new. · Light cherry red color in the glass. Aromas of red cherry, brick, sandalwood and toast lead to a light weighted wine with delicate flavors of red cherry and raspberry. 2012 Spell Nichole’s Blend Sonoma County Pinot Noir

14.3% alc., pH 3.70, TA 0.59, 902 cases, $39. A blend of grapes from Lorenzo, Hurst, DeVoto, Marimar, Terre de Promissio and Alder Springs vineyards. Aged in 25% new, 25% once used, and 50% older French oak barrels. · Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass. Shy aromas of cherry cobbler, raspberry coulis and baking spices. Elegant in the mouth with tangy acidity, featuring black cherry and raspberry flavors. Pleasant, with modest tannins and easy approachability.
